My work is created in response to the landscape, simplifying and abstracting to create paintings which resonate with my personal experience of a place. My process begins outside with drawing and painting in situ, work is then developed from these observational studies in the studio. My paintings depict the arrangements and patterns on the land; marks left by natural and man-made interventions or occurrences. My interest is in these marks as a record of the passage of time through growth, decay and regrowth.
